Society All Grown Up

It always strikes me as very odd what the western world finds alarming. When it comes to women taking off every single piece of clothing on their body and twirling around a pole in front of a crowd of men, there's nothing to say. The governments and parliaments applaud this behavior and label it "freedom". But, when a woman wears a scarf on her head or a burqa to keep her appearance away from the glaring eyes of men, suddenly all hell breaks loose. Double standards have become a normal occurrence.
Please refer to this article about France (they have always had a constant struggle regarding general respect for the religious practices of Muslim women): French Bill to Fine Burqa
I guess the gesture is okay, they are trying to make sure that Muslim men are not forcing their women to dress in the burqa, that's acceptable. But this article goes on to say something as ignorant as: "France will not allow women to fully cover themselves." Wow, really?
I guess that makes sense, because here's a nice little excerpt about what France is all about: Sex Spots in France
In summary, the Western view is the following: “Sex, nudity, and scandalous dressing is how people should express themselves, that's the only way to express your freedom. If you decide to express your freedom in any other way (ex: dressing modestly), then you shall be shunned, fined, and disrespected for your barbaric beliefs.”
And, that is what society has matured into. What's there to be proud of? France should be ashamed, to be so petty and mingle in people's personal lives (what ever happened to our freedom of privacy). Muslim women have definitely got it bad. They leave their oppressive countries in hopes of finding some freedom in the Western world, only to be greeted with such terrible hatred. It’s a downright shame.
And, this hatred against Muslim practices spans much wider than France. The simple fact that Europe will not accept Turkey into the European Union because of the fact that a majority of its citizens follow Islamic practices of dressing modestly. Doesn’t that cry out injustice to anyone? The fact that Turkey is forced to beg and plead and has done everything to get into the European Union (like encouraged co-ed beaches and encouraged Turkish women to dress like women of the West, with their chest hanging out and their pants so tight it sometimes looks like their skin).
My honest opinion about the burqa is that I don’t really like it and I feel that it is unnecessary. And, when Muslim women wear the burqa in Western countries, they are drawing more attention to themselves, which is contradictory to what the burqa was meant to do. But, that is only my opinion and I have learned that not everyone agrees with my opinion and they have a right. Those in power in France need to realize that their opinions aren’t the opinions of others. They have put “wearing the burqa” at the same level as “speeding on the road” and that is absolutely uncalled for. If you want to fine women for wearing the burqa, I would like you to fine women for wearing really short skirts as well (some girls are forced to wear short skirts because society has forced them into believing that that is the only way they will be accepted).
Thank you…for not listening (because of course no one likes to be proven wrong).
